"Protector of the Small" by Tamora Pierce is my favourite series of books, largely because of the main character: Keladry of Mindelan. This is my version of her, most likely from 'Lady Knight' - the final book of the series.
I own nothing - the character is completely Tamora Pierce's. Read the books!
Also can be used as a female fighter/ warrior/ ranger.. etc. etc.
