Epic Dress # 2 with cape Created: December 2012 - January 2013 Hours spend making: 40 - 45 Materials used: 20 meters x 150cm wide cream chiffon, three packets of ipoly green dye, 5 meters of 150cm wide green cotton, approximately 45 meters of gold ribbon, 750 meters of green sewing cotton, 350 meters of yellow sewing cotton (corset was a CHEAP one bought off ebay that I've had for about a year) Inspiration: light, air, wind, life, movement, forest, regal, fantasy Outfit cost: Approximately $200 - 250 for materials (and corset)
Bit about: I have always wanted to make something that looks like it should be in a fantasy movie. I think I may actually have done it with this one.
I created this dress with the idea of wanting a dress to almost float with lots of layers of light weight material when wind it it.
I came up with the concept after scoring a bargin on ebay of cream chiffon for $71 including postage. I then cut out the pieces and hand dyed each piece giving a very rich and beautiful differentiation in the colouring. I used two standard patterns for the skirt and sleeves and drafted my own patterns for the rest of the items attached directly to the corset.
I am so happy with the way this dress moves in the wind - full of life. It is truly Epic.
Here are some of the stocks that I have shot in this dress:
That's amazing! I look forward to seeing more designs from you. I toured your gallery. I was amazed by the red dress. It was beautiful. I loved the long train. It flowed beautifully in the pictures and on the stairs.
*blush* thank you. I do love designing something and then making it. Luckily do me I'm a terrible drawer but what I want usually comes out in the outfit
that's amazing! I only wish I could do that with dress design. I can draw but I can't sew or create something so lovely like the dresses! I can hardly wait for more of your work! keep it up!
Thank you. See I am the opposite- I can't draw! I create an idea in my head, might do a quick sketch or two but then I have to start making it. 2d doesn't work for me.
